March 12th, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Starting on Friday, March 13th, the Wilmington Area School District will be temporarily expanding its 1:1 device program for students in 3rd and 4th grade.   Students in these grades already have a 1:1 device assigned to them for in-school use only; however, on Friday, these devices will be sent home for the first time.  Your child will be given a chromebook (w/protective case) and a charger. Please ensure these items make it home safely with your child and the three items are cared for.   General guidelines for home-use of chromebook are on the following pages for your reference and understanding.

Expected usage of these devices at home will be strictly academic.  Depending on your child’s grade and teacher, your child may be expected to complete assignments or tasks at home if any schooling is missed in the upcoming weeks -  these assignments or tasks will be communicated by school Principals and/or your child’s Teachers via email and/or Google Classroom notifications.

As you may already know, students in grades 3 and 4 are already experienced and knowledgeable regarding the use of chromebooks and the various apps used for educational purposes.   Google Classroom is a prevailing platform for teacher/student communication regarding assignments, announcements, etc.

At this time, we ask that all students in grades 3 and 4 keep their 1:1 devices and chargers at home and await further instruction from Principals and Teachers.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding,
